Global financial services firm Sun Life celebrated its move to Hartford’s Gold Building today with a ribbon cutting ceremony showcasing its new office space.
The debut of the new office at One Financial Plaza, known as the Gold Building, mark’s Sun Life’s official move from Windsor to Hartford.The Hartford Business Journal first reported on Sun Life’s plans to relocate its Connecticut office in August 2021.
The new office accommodates up to 450 people, the company said, and 400 of the company’s employees live within commuting distance of downtown Hartford.
The company said its newly designed Gold Building office “prioritizes group collaboration and event space” and offers employees the flexibility of choosing to work from home or in the office. There is a new collaboration area, library, quiet room and social area for employees. The office will also have art through the company’s partnership with the Amistad Center for Art & Culture.
The company said all of its offices — including Kansas City, Mo., Wellesley, Mass., Milwaukee, Wisc., Waterford, Ireland; and a new office in Portland, Maine — are being designed with this new “future-of-work” mentality.
The new office has LED lighting with motion controls, low water usage restrooms, waste recycling, bike rack availability, showers and electric vehicle charging stations.
The building and parking garage are owned by LAZ Parking and Shelbourne Global Solutions.
